About Us
Our Mission
Built for readers who treat information as an asset
The Index Today is a financial and business news publication covering the stories that move markets — written with the depth of long-form journalism and delivered at the speed of a trading desk. We cover equities, bonds, commodities, currencies, macroeconomics, technology, and geopolitics, because the lines between them have never been blurrier.
We believe great financial journalism belongs to the reader, not the algorithm. We don't chase clicks. We don't write for search engines. We write for people who want to understand what is actually happening — and why it matters for their decisions.
"The market is always pricing something in. Our job is to tell you what." — The Index Today Editorial Staff
Editorial Standards
Accuracy first. Context always. Speed when it counts.
Every story published in The Index Today undergoes editorial review for factual accuracy and sourcing before it goes live. We distinguish clearly between news reporting and opinion. Our bylines are real people with identified beats — not anonymous aggregations of wire copy.
Each article carries a Quality & Market Value (QMV) score assigned to the author — a transparent signal of track record and editorial standing. We think accountability should start at the byline.
- No anonymous sources without editorial review. If we cite a source we cannot name, we say why.
- Markets data is clearly labelled as delayed or live. We don't present stale prices as real-time without disclosure.
- Opinion is marked opinion. Analysis that reflects a viewpoint carries that label prominently.
- Corrections are published promptly. When we get something wrong, we say so at the top of the article, not buried in a footnote.
- Advertising is separated from editorial. Sponsored content is labelled. Advertisers have no influence over our coverage.
How We're Different
TimePay: journalism priced by the market
The Index Today runs on TimePay — a micropayment system that lets readers purchase individual articles rather than committing to a blanket subscription. Each article is priced in TPC credits, redeemable at a fixed cash equivalent. You pay for what you read. Nothing more.
TimePay also powers our real-time Signals — demand, confidence, and median read-time indicators that appear on every article. These signals are derived entirely from reader behaviour on this site. They are not financial advice, and they are not derived from external price feeds. They reflect how our own audience is engaging with a story.
Reading the Signals
What the numbers on each article mean
Every article on The Index Today carries a live signal panel. Here is what each indicator represents:
The current TimePay execution price for this article, updated in real time based on reader demand on this site. This is not a financial asset price.
The percentage change in purchase activity over the last trading window. Rising demand indicates the story is gaining readership momentum.
The median time readers spend on this article. A proxy for depth of engagement — longer isn't always better, but very short times may signal skimming.
An editorial confidence rating reflecting source quality, corroboration, and author QMV. Scored 0–100. Higher scores indicate stronger evidentiary grounding.
Signals describe reader behaviour on this site only. They are not investment signals, financial recommendations, or indicators of external market prices. See our TimePay explainer for full methodology.
